Brody Hits the Big TimeAdam Brody is breaking out of "The O.C." to the big screen. Brody, one of the leads on Fox's hit series about life in Orange County, Calif., has landed a supporting role in the Brad Pitt (news)-Angelina Jolie (news) thriller "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." Pitt and Jolie play a bored married couple who discover that they are enemy assassins hired to kill each other. Brody will play Hector, a character who gets kidnapped early in the film only to show up later in a surprising turn. The part was originally envisioned as an ethnic role, but insiders said director Doug Liman, who is also an executive producer on "The O.C.," pressed to have the part rewritten specifically for Brody. The Regency Enterprises project is shooting in Los Angeles. While Brody has been seen on the big screen in such films as "Grind" and "The Ring," the role in "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" marks his first major film off the success of "The O.C."
