Of Course there are the obvious OC Songs which everyone loves including me but here are the best of the more unknown ones.
1. Eve, The Apple of My Eye - Bell X1 (unbelievable song when listened in full! You just want it to keep on going and going. A great song while going for a walk at sunset...the feeling is undescribable. Download for free from my site)
MOMENT - First kiss between Alex and Marissa on Valentine's Day in Season 2
2. Worn Me Down - Rachel Yamagata (Great introduction, will make you want to cry. Also download from my site)
MOMENT - Marissa and Seth realise how lonely they are as they sit and ponder their thoughts at the bench outside the bait shop in Season 2
3. Flying High - Jem A very sweet song, which unfortunately is used in a forgetful scene, hence is not very powerful in The OC. However, a great song on its own.
MOMENT - Cannot really remember, In last episode of season 1, during a Ryan/Marissa talk
4. Fall At Your Feet - James Blunt The only scene in Season 3 up until this poitn that I actually felt any emotion. This short powerful song had a lot to do with it.
MOMENT - Various times during the episode when Johnny dies. Most powerful I believe when Johnny screws up Marissa's letter and throws it in the fire saying nothing matters anymore.
Caught By the River, Champagne Supernova, Dice and If You Leave were the best used songs in The whole of the OC in my opinon, making the respective scenes tens of times better.
This Is My first ever entry, hope you enjoyed it. www.freewebs.com/jaedz[/b]

Top Ten in no particular order
1. Worn Me Down by Rachael Yamagata- The moment enhanced this song so much- the lyrics fit the situation perfectly.
2. Paint the Silence by South- Probably one of my favorite songs of all-time. Everything is right about this song.
3. Champagne Supernova my matt pond PA- Classic montage in the series, and a great song- I'm still not sure if I like the original version by Oasis better- it's a tough choice
4. Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap- Another classic moment in this series used in one of the best scenes- amazing lyrics, voice, sound
5. Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley- Another great song with great lyrics- I believe that the moment it was used really did enhance the song- no one will ever forget the famous "Hallelujah" montage
6. Forever Young by Youth Group- Another great cover- this is a great version of a song that fits The O.C. perfectly
7. Honey and the Moon by Joseph Arthur- A wonderful song that will bring you back to the very first episode
8. Eve, the Apple of My Eye by Bell X1- Just a perfect song- I don't particularly like the moment that it was used at, but it's a great song regardless
9. Caught by the River by Doves- One of my many favorite scenes in the entire series- plus, it's a great song with great lyrics
10. Maybe I'm Amazed by Jem- Perfect moment to use the song- the lyrics fit the situation perfectly; plus, it's a generally good song
Also: I love Dice by Finley Quaye, Good Day by Tally Hall, Hide Away by Rock Kills Kid, Something Pretty by Patrick Park, Lover I Don't Have to Love by Bettie Serveert, California by Rogue Wave, Earthquakes and Sharks by Brandtson

My top ten in no paticular order:
1. Lover I Don't Have to Love by Bettie Servert: Lyrics fit the moment so perfectly, plus the cover is my favourite song (the Bright Eyes version)
2. Dice by Finley Quaye - Couldn't have picked a better song for that moment
3. Hallelujah by Imogen Heap - Again, couldn't have picked a better song played when Marissa dies
4. Speeding Cars by Imogen Heap - I want this to be my graduation song now
5. Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap - Perfect lyrics for the perfect scene
6. Fall At Your Feet by James Blunt - brought tears to my eyes
7. Forever Young by Youth Group - Best couple song for Ryan and Marissa
8. Paint The Silence by South - Best first-kiss song
9. If You Leave by Nada Surf - So sad to see Anna go
10. Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley - Perfect song.
And plus also California by Phantom Planet was the perfect introductory song for the show.
There's about 100 more I could name but that would take too long.

So I've been thinking about this for quite some time, and I've finally come up with an answer...
The best song EVER on THE OC had to be "Eastern Glow" by The Album Leaf in season 2's premiere "The Distance." The scene between Ryan and Marissa fits perfect with this song.
Definitely the best song EVER on THE OC!
