The reason you're saying you're ashamed to be from the US is becuase of the reaction that you get going to airports in other countries and people talking to you slowly. Thinking Americans are stupid is a STEREOTYPE as well. So you are just a flaming hypocrite!
We do to have freedom in the US. Having freedom does NOT mean you can do whatever you want. Separation of church and state in the US means that there is no national church or religion. Everyone has the freedom to practice whatever religion they choose and are free from persecution. The US was, however, founded on Judeo-Christian laws and values. First amendment rights are clearly NOT bullshit otherwise YOU would NOT be able to say bad things about our President without being sent off to a prison camp in Alaska!

Separation Of Church and State also includes separating religion from our local and national governments, i mean come on, " One nation under god." And I did not state that americans were stupid, because clearly we all arent. Like I said, im not a hick. I live in the capital city, and you have clearly never been to West Virginia, or you wouldnt be so critical of what its citizens are like.
Also, like I said before, fighting with someone online is immature, so I suggest we stop now. Im sure that just because you hold stereo-types against me, does not mean youre completely ignorant, so Im sure youre thinking along the same lines.

I'm sorry- you're just wrong on the separation of church and state: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."
I get really worked up when I hear Americans saying they're ashamed of being Americans because of what people in foreign countries think.  We live in a great nation- no matter what problems exist.
And I was (mostly) kidding about the WV comments.

Well its not just so much about what other countries think, its about the way the american culture in general is towards someone of my heritage. I have to worry about the prejudices against arab americans all the time, and yea, the Nation is great, but it could be a lot greater. Where I live, and the school I go to, the church is invloved in every aspect of life. I mean people in WV are mostly white and christian and just cant get used to the fact that there are lots of other things in the world outside of their comfort zone.
But the WV comments were offensive mostly because I cant wait to get out of this shithole, and ive never even met someone involved in or affected by incest. I guess you could say Im not youre average west virginian. Lets just put all the stupid things weve said to each other out of the way and discuss the real important matter at hand, the OC.
