Well, here is my idea...
Jimmy and julie will attempt to reunite the Cooper family, just in time for the return of long-time-not-seen Kaitlin cooper. Marissa, however, has other things on her mind, after her recent gunshot at Trey. Ryan is very compassionate and understanding with her, but with the return of Ryan's mom, it will take a while to prove that Marissa is not the one at fault.
Do you nremember the second episode of season 2- The Way We Were- how it was a try and fail for the O.C. to return to its old self? It seems that Josh Shwartz wants the third season to be calm and restored for a while- which will make lots of fans happy. I just think that Josh Shwartz puts so much effort into making the show, it is amazing how eeverything pieces together so well, and the music of the season finale of season 2 (Hide and Seek- by Imogen Heap- it was playing while ppl were on the way to the funeral and when Trey looked at Marissa after she shot him. Best song evr lol)
Most ppl, not me, thought this season went down- Even if these past 4 episods were the only good ones, i would buy the dvd season 2 just for them (August 23rd ppl) YaY!!

I can't wait for the 3 rd season to come out, I just hope it won't start in november like last year. Meanwhile I will watch the second season re-runs, I also can't wait 'til it comes out on DVD.

I think we won't see Kirsten for a while, the time she gets over her addiction to alcohol.
Jimmy and Julie may get back together. Julie seems sincere and we could see that she was really happy when Marissa huged her, she sure hadn't done that in a while.
I don't think Ryan will be mad at Marissa, Trey never been nice to Ryan and he had to go. Sandy will be Marissa's attorney and she won't be found guilty, it was onl self defense.
Ryan's Mom might be back for Trey' funeral, that is if she is still alive, if she didn't die of an overdose of alcohol. Therissa will also come, and Ryan will find out she did have the baby. One of the big question for the 3rd season will be : "Is Ryan the father of Therissa's baby???"
Those are my prediction for next season.
For the ones who thought Oliver was coming back, I don't think he will. There is no point in making him come back, no one likes him and he would be rejected.

I'm reading a lot of great predictions for season 3. MY predictions are...I think that Kirsten is going to meet up with Carter in rehab and possibly have an affair with him...While Sandy tries to keep the family together. Marissa's family status and Seth and Ryans family status will sort of..switch places...with Marissa now having her mom and dad together with that perfect family image and Seth and Ryans family falling apart. Ryans mom should come back and she should look a lot younger and healthier because shes been clean - but the devestating news of her oldest sons death will force her back into drugs. She will find out about how Marissa murdered her son and will want revenge...Then Julie will try to protect Marissa and get into a serious fight with Ryans mom...at some fancy event (as usual)...this will bring: tension between ryan and marissa..with ryan not knowing whether to be on his moms side, or his girlfriends..and also, bring Marissa and Julie closer - which they haven't been in a while. Then, Theresa's baby will get really sick and be rushed to the hospital - panicking, Theresa's mother will call Ryan and tell him...
About the Summer/Seth and Marissa/Ryan relationships...both couples have been throgh a lot, and theres not really much more that can happen. I mean, weve seen it all..the love traingles, the breakups, the makeups, the back-and-forths, the lesbian hook up...we need some fresh drama with the relationships - something we haven't seen before, something unexpected...I've been thinking about this for a while. Me and 2 of my other OC-finatic friends came up with this scenario..(which includes a new character, Sara...whom i made up  )
At first, Marissa and Summer think Sara's this really cool chick. She's nice, funny and fun to hang with. She just came from Corona (close 2 Chino) so Ryan thinks shes pretty cool too. But the truth is, Sara hates these fake Newport kids. Her mom was engaged and in love with this rich guy from Newport whom she thought would solve all their problems they'd and lead this perfect, rich, glamorous life like all those other undeserving rich newport beach ppl. Well, to make a long story short - the guys intentions were anything but a glamorous future. Saras mom quit her job because he promised her a life of diamonds, dresses and spas, without her having to work. In the end, he left her mother heartbroken, depressed and broke. So Sara assumed all newport ppl were the same. Growing up, her hate for them increased. She pretends to be everyones friend, smileing and acting innocent. Seth thinks shes a little too nice, and theres something sneaky about her eyes...and it just might have been her who stole Marissa's wallet...but of course, no1 listens to seth. Then...One day, Sara suggests a little game of good old truth or dare. She ends up daring Marissa to kiss Seth...Ryan and Summer glare at them in jelousy and with every one of Sara's comments.. (eg. "that was a serious kiss", "if i didnt know better, i'd say you too were a couple" etc.)they get angrier. Without realizing Sara's cruel intentions, they focuse their anger on eachother. And Ryan can't be happier to show Marissa how "serious" he can be when he's dared to kiss Summer next. To get revenge, Ryan and Summer have a full-out 2 minute makeout session. this causes...Marissa and Seth to become closer, Ryan and Summer to become closer, Marissa and Summer to (finally) fight!, and Ryan and seth to also fight...Marissa and Ryan don't talk for a week and Seth and Summer don't either...leaving Sara to be the only communication between the couples...as her little undercover plan for revenge on all the newport beach ppl slowly starts getting really serious...
wow..thats pretty long..lol, i do a lot of dots too...o well
...i have a LOT more, i think about these things too much..lol
i might post the rest later
i hope whoever has time 2 read my (very long) prediction for season 3 will like it

Did you think before you wrote that? It wasnt self-defence, he didnt pose any danger to her, its self defence if you manage to kill someone while they are trying to kill you.
I think she will do time while her parents make-up, when she comes back, she's gonna live the life she always wanted.
I wander what happens to Zac (the chop?  ) coz he doesn't have much part in anything other than that 'Graphic Novel' which i think will finally launch this third season...
