I really hope you all like this...the ending is a bit different from my other endings, I wanted to make it like the real show, with like a montage with music playing as different scenes flash...so I did something like that. Hope you all enjoy that part though, and the whole update. I warn you, it seems extremely long but that's only because it flips scenes so often, changes and there's so many, and while some are long scenes, a lot of them are very short, but detailed and good I promise!! I'm really sorry about the length though-- I just need everything to fit in and they always manage to go so long!! Please enjoy anyway-- and review!!
The Dreadful Encounters, Side 2.
Chapter 8- For Money, And Not For Money.
Julie and Sandy stumbled through a dance club that was playing the song ‘Bossy’ by Kells; Too Short. Immediately, Sandy spotted Ryan, prominent, his back facing him as he sat at a bar, downing a beer. Sandy glanced at Julie and nodded to Ryan. Julie nodded back, and they went opposite ways, as Julie began searching for Kaitlin.
“Ryan,” Sandy said dryly as he approached him. Ryan’s shoulder’s flinched in a bit of surprise, and turned to face Sandy.
“What are you-“ Ryan asked, slightly annoyed, but Sandy cut him off.
“Ryan, I know you’re eighteen years old, and you’re not a kid anymore, so Kirsten and I are not going to force you to come home. But you’re older now, you’re an adult, you’re wiser, and because I care about you, I advise you to make better choices. I know you, Ryan. And this is not you, at least not anymore. Going after people, hunting them down, sitting in crowded bars. That’s the old Ryan Atwood. I know you as a boy who could make better choices.” Ryan didn’t say anything, so Sandy went on. “Look, what happened was terrible, it was horrible; and it affected us all. And no matter how much Volchuck is responsible for the situation, no matter how wrong he is, killing him, hurting him…it’ll only make things worse. I know you’re devastated, and I know you’re angry, I understand; we all do. But this is the not way to deal with it.” Sandy spoke firmly, but meaningfully, and not angrily, just like the potential Sandy Cohen speech.
Ryan took a deep breath. “I saw Volchuck,” He informed.
“I know,” Sandy nodded. “Seth told me everything.”
Ryan sighed, and ran his hand through his hair
“Is Julie here??” he changed the subject, after a long awaited pause.
Sandy nodded. “She’s here,” he replied. “Looking for Kaitlin. But for different then I’m looking for you. Far different.”
“Right, because she’s going to make Kaitlin come home as she has to, but you came just advise me??” Ryan brought in, reciting it as a question, but meaning it as more of a statement.
“Ryan, I came here because you came to Mexico without confiding us. You asked Seth to lie, then you deliberately came here in a rage, and in an intention to get to somebody. Whether you did or you didn’t, it was an intention. You put yourself in danger. I’m proud of you for not doing anything, I’m also proud of you for giving Kaitlin advice. But I do wish you would realize the different between what seems better in your life, and what is better,” Sandy stated.
Ryan sighed. “I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do, where I wanted to go.”
“You got into Berkeley,” Sandy pointed out.
“It doesn’t start until August,” Ryan cut in.
“What’s best for you to do right now Ryan??” Sandy asked.
“I can’t stay here anymore, so I guess I’m coming back to Newport-“ Ryan met Sandy’s eye-“but it’s only temporary.”
“Still what I needed to hear,” Sandy smiled, although Ryan frowned; still not exactly thrilled to go back, but Sandy’s talk inspiring enough.
Kaitlin smiled, as she danced with Jeff, the song ‘Bossy’ still playing. Jeff leaned into her, grazing her shoulders with his elbows, and holding her hips.
“I love this song,” Kaitlin smiled, as she swerved toward Jeff’s sweating, muscled body. Jeff’s response was a smile, as they continued dancing.
Julie found Kaitlin in the mist of teenagers, and frowned at the boy; not fond of the way he was dancing with her daughter, leaning too close to her, straddling her hips, and using her shoulder as an elbow rest.
“Kaitlin!!” Julie yelled over the music, as she approached her.
Kaitlin paused then lowered her dancing to slight hip swerves, “Oh no,” she sighed, as she faced Julie. Julie crossed her eyes inwardly at Jeff.
“Come on Jeff, let’s go,” Kaitlin said, annoyed, taking Jeff’s arm to pull him away. She was about to walk away, when Julie blocked them.
“Mom, what are you doing here??” Kaitlin asked, unsatisfied by her mother’s arrival. She folded her arms. Jeff didn’t say anything, but just stared at Julie.
“Kaitlin, you can’t keep doing this. You can’t. I have too much going on right now to have you running off Mexico alone-“ Julie was interrupted by Kaitlin.
“I’m not alone, Mom, are you blind??” Kaitlin said rudely, and looked brusquely towards Jeff. To get on Julie’s nerves, she inched closer to Jeff, and linked her arm with his, smiling devilishly.
Julie sighed; she remembered when Marissa would do obnoxious things like that just to tick her off.
“Whether you’re with somebody or not, I don’t want you here. Your dad and I have far too much going on right now, and it adds too much more with us worrying about your well-being here in Mexico. I know you’re upset by everything, and I know you feel like you haven’t gotten much attention. This year was meant to be ours, the one for us to get along, and get closer again. And don’t think that because this happened I’m changing that. We’re trying to move on, and I know you think Dad and Neil and I are abandoning you, but we’re not trying to. It’s just that everything that happened-“
“I KNOW!!” Kaitlin groaned. “That’s all you think about. That’s all you dream about. That’s mostly all you talk about. Everything turns into it somehow. Almost everything was about Marissa!! Marissa, Marissa, Marissa. Then you got mad when we weren’t closer!! How could that happen when she’s all I hear about!! When I was younger, I was always sent home with babysitters, or shipped to Grandma’s, and then pretty soon boarding school. When I came back, I wanted to make sure Marissa and you were okay from everything, because I cared. I cared about everything. I was hoping we could all get close. You say you are going to try to move on, and stop leaving in the dark, but how do I know ...how could I trust you that that will all change??”
And obviously you still don’t care about me, and now you want me home to yet again be miserable with nobody to talk to?? Jeff is the only person I have to talk to, and you don’t want me talking to him anyway and he wants to be here, and so do I. So about me coming home?? Not happening,” Kaitlin folded her arms, and couldn’t help but give Julie a triumphant smirk at that.
“Kaitlin, we all want you home. Look, Dad came home, and he wants to become closer again. Summer’s spoiling her chance at an Ivy league college that she worked long and hard to get into, because she wants to stick around until you come home. There’s a lot going on at home, and we need you there. After what happened, I really need you home so I don’t stress and worry over you being here,” Julie explained.
“Really??” Kaitlin gaped. “Because I figured life would be easier without a lousy fifteen year old like me hanging around.”
Julie closed her eyes a minute. “Kaitlin, you know that’s not true, I love you,” Julie said calmly.
“You sure don’t act like it,” Kaitlin trailed in snappily.
Julie looked at her crossly. “Kaitlin that is it!! You are coming home I will not tolerate this!! Don’t say those kinds of things to me, or use that tone with me, and get out of this club, and get in the car with me, young lady!!”
“No,” Kaitlin said irritably.
“I’m not leaving without you,” Julie insisted.
“Well then I guess you’re not leaving,” Kaitlin said rudely.
“Kaitlin, you better do what I said or you’ll be in big trouble, I’m your mother and you better listen to me!!” Julie yelled.
“You’ve never been like a mother to me,” Kaitlin replied, with no hurt, anger, or even dignity in her voice but conspicuously existing. “Come on Jeff, let’s go,” she muttered sadly, and grabbed his arm again, but this time pulling him away without Julie following. She stood there watching her daughter walk off with an older guy, the words from before still hitting her hard. And just how true were they??
--
“What do you want??” Jeff asked, as he was pulled into the side room by Julie.
“Look, I don’t have much time,” Julie said in a low voice. “Kaitlin will be back any minute.” She reached into her purse and took out something. Grasping it, she smoothed it out and held it out to Jeff.
“What is that??” Jeff asked empatheically.
Julie rolled her eyes inwardly. “Five hundred and fifty thousand dollars. It is my final and only offer.”
“Offer for what??” Jeff asked confused.
“I give you the money,” Julie’s tone was strident and thick, her face lacking sensitivity and showing only power. “And you stay away from my daughter.”
--
“Cohen!!” Summer called as she rushed up the stairs and entered Seth’s room. Seeing as he wasn’t there, she sighed. She felt her phone vibrate in her pants pocket and heard the trail of the tune of her ring floating up. Picking it up, she saw it was Harvey. This was his fourth time calling and the other times she hadn’t answered. Her fingers trembled over the ‘Accept’ button but she finally pressed it.
“Hey babe.” Harvey’s voice gushed through the phone. Summer grimaced. “You have my money??”
‘Um…yeah,” Summer lied, her barely audible voice quavering.
“Good. You know the deal. Bring it over to the club. You’re not there in twenty minutes you what I get in return.”
“Harvey.” Summer said in a pleading tone, “I have a boyfriend.”
“The I suggest you bring me my money.” Harvey told her threateningly. He hung up.
“Ug, son of a bitch.” Summer murmured, and closed the phone. She sighed. She’d be planning on asking (or begging, more of), Seth for help. A loan, or defense, anything. She thought of Harvey’s vicious tone and cringed. She sat on Seth’s bed and put her chin in her hands. Looking over on the dresser, she saw that Seth had a wallet bunched with money. She walked over to the dressed and emptied the bills onto his dresser. Counting, she realized he had well-over the $350.00 dollars she would need to pay Harvey. She ran her hands over the leather, petrified of facing Harvey with lack of money but knowing she couldn’t do this to Seth.
‘Seth would lend it anyway. He’s just not here. I’ll explain it and he’ll understand.’ Summer thought to herself. She reached into the pocket of the wallet and emptied the bills, counting the ones, fives, tens, twenties, fifties, and hundreds, until she selected her need. Feeling the hugest pang of guilt she had ever felt in her whole life, she slipped the money into her Louis Vuilton bag and left the room.
--
“Well it looks like it’s just you and me, Cap’in Oats.” Seth announced, as he held Cap’in Oats in one hand, and a plate of Lilo and Stich macaroni and cheese and a bottle of watermelon Gatorade in his right hand. He sat down on the couch in a Star Wars t-shirt and boxers, and set his dinner on a tray from the table. He was prepared for a relaxing, pajama wearing night of movies, dinner, and video games with Cap’in Oats. Kirsten was out; working late, Ryan and Sandy wouldn’t be back for a while, and Summer…well, he had gone over there twice over the past two days and she wasn’t there. He suspected something was going on with her, but he shrugged it off thinking she was probably continuing with her weird behavior through an overwhelming amount of grief. He had tried opening up to her numerous times, but she didn’t seem to want his attention. And now he was left with a peaceful evening at home and he thought that was quite satisfying.
“So, what will it be Oats??” Seth asked, as he held up two DVDs. “Harold and Kumar or The Matrix??” All of a sudden, the doorbell rang.
“Or I’ll just answer the door,” Seth murmured, sighing with annoyance, as he placed his DVDs down on the couch and trudged his way lazily over to the door. He opened up the door. He faced a young girl, looking around his age, with long dark hair in thin frizzes down her back.
“Hi, um, I’m Alexandra, from, uh…Kirsten Cohen is my counselor in Planned Parenthood,” Alexandra seemed nervous.
Seth remembered Kirsten telling him that she was expecting a pregnant seventeen-year Seth suddenly remembered that Kirsten had said that she was expecting a seventeen year-old from Planned Parenthood for a meeting and he should let her in. Though, it had slipped his mind.
Noticing the conspicuous bump on her belly, Seth sighed, wondering why he hadn’t noticed it. “Oh, hi, I’m Seth. Actually, my mom- Kirsten Cohen, if you will- is not here. But I’m sure she’ll be back soon, so why don’t you come inside and wait for her??”
Alexandra smiled, before stepping into the house. “Thanks,” she said gratefully.
Seth nodded, for some reason embarrassed about his appearance; in pajamas, with his hair messy and curls rumpled together, and his feet bare. He really shouldn’t be. It was six o’ clock at the evening, and he was at home. But for some reason, he was.
“Do you want anything?? Cap’in Oats and I-“
“Cap’in Oats??”
Seth blushed. “Er, um….long story. Anyway, I was just about to watch a movie, and I mean, do you like Harold and Kumar Go To White castle?? Or would you prefer The Matrix??”
Alexandra laughed. “I’ve actually never been able to sit through The Matrix.”
Seth gaped at her. “Can’t sit through The Matrix?? Oh well, I have enough time tonight to watch both. Harold and Kumar it is.”
Alexandra followed Seth into the living room. Seth tossed a Cheetos bag on the floor, and offered the seat to Alexandra.
“So, what’s up these days??” Seth asked, trying to maintain conversation.
“Well, I moved out after I found out I was pregnant, and then broke up with my boyfriend so it looks like I’ll be a single parent,” Alexandra said bluntly. Seth raised an eyebrow, surprised she had given him so much information.
“Do you want me to call my mom and find out when she’s coming??” Seth asked, not sure what else to say.
“It’s fine. She told me to come over for a meeting, so she’ll be here soon.”
Seth nodded, and the two got engaged in the film. Soon though, Seth turned around and saw that Alexandra was holding her stomach and wincing.
“Are you okay??” Seth asked nervously.
“I’m fine,” Alexandra said in a stiff breath, but she had her eyes closed and seemed like she was in pain.
“Do you want water or anything??” Seth asked.
“I’m fine,” Alexandra said, and moved her hands from her stomach, smiling up at Seth.
Seth nodded, and went back to the movie, still a bit cautious of the fact that this girl next to him was a total stranger, he was the only one with her, and she was pregnant and due very soon. A few minutes later, Alexandra had grabbed her stomach again and was breathing heavily.
“S-Sam,” Alexandra stammered through clenched teeth. Seth looked up nervously, not caring that she had said his name wrong.
“I’m going into labor,” Alexandra said, as she continued to breathe heavily.
Seth suddenly got nervous and jumped up from the couch. “Um, okay, I’ll- I’ll call my mom,” Seth attempted to assure, trying to stay calm through the situation.
“Or you could try Julie Cooper…she works with me too,” Alexandra informed, still clutching her stomach and breathing.
Seth felt his head begin to spin and his body go completely numb as he raced over to the phone. He gave Alexandra a nervous glance and quickly dialed Kirsten. Hearing her voicemail, he sighed loudly.
“Mom, there’s girl here; Alexandra, and well she’s in labor, you need to get here or whatever, because I have no idea what I’m doing. I don’t know what else to do, or who else to call, she said her boyfriend and her broke up so…yeah. Just please come help me!!” Seth yelled, and hung up the phone. He turned to Alexandra. “Hang in there, I’m looking for Julie’s number,” he called back, as he pulled his mom’s phonebook out from the drawer and began flipping the long list of numbers, frantically awaiting Julie’s; when he reached it, he dialed vigorously, absentmindedly forgetting she was in Mexico and there was no way she could help on time. It wouldn’t have mattered either way though, because Julie didn’t answer either, Seth drew in a shaky breath, and hung up the phone.
He walked back to the room, feeling sheepish, his hands trembling. Alexandra looked up at him.
“Let’s go,” Seth said, as he slid into his jacket, and helped Alexandra up. “I couldn’t reach my mom or Julie. I’m going to take you.”
Alexandra smiled, the pain in her eyes obvious.
“Um, I’m not an expert on this, I never had to do this before, but um, I’ll try…just, uh, keep breathing, you’re in control.” Seth skeptically put his arm around Alexandra, and uneasily led her outside to his car, trying to comfort with words of advice and sympathy. He helped her into the car, and peeled out of the driveway with a rough squeal from the brakes.
“It’s okay, you’re okay, we’re going to make this,” Seth continued to sympathize, as he drove off feeling uneasy. First of all, he had never dealt with something like this before, and now in an emergency cause, here he was with a pregnant girl in labor he had met barely ten minutes ago helping her to the hospital, and possibly even with the birth of the baby if Kirsten and or Julie couldn’t get there fast enough. But, second of all, and most important of all, what would Summer think??
--
Ryan sighed forlornly as Sandy’s car pulled into the driveway of the Cohen’s house. Dawn had hit the day, night was brewing, and the sky was darkening. And none of the cars were parked in the driveway, showing nobody was home. But Ryan didn’t care. He didn’t much anything. He sat in the passenger seat next to Sandy, folding his arms with his hood over his head.
“Well, it looks like nobody’s home,” Sandy observed, as the two of them each got out of the car and slammed their doors shut (well, at least Ryan slammed his door shut.) “Want to order some Thai??”
“I’m not hungry,” Ryan murmured. “I think I’ll just go to the poolhouse. Unpack. Maybe go for a drive.”
Sandy raised his eyebrows. “A drive?? Ryan, you just got back.”
“Yeah, and I don’t want to be back,” Ryan put in rudely, sending Sandy to frown but conspicuously understanding.
“Well…okay,” he agreed, as he walked towards the house and Ryan; towards the poolhouse. “Come in if you need anything- company, food- anything.”
“Okay,” Ryan said expressionless, as he solemnly walked with his head down to the poolhouse. Sandy watched him with concern.
Ryan went into the poolhouse and threw down his bag. He punched his punching bag, then gave it a good vigorous kick, before kicking other things in his path that he had left on the floor, candy bar wrappers, magazines, even a photo album. The photo album flipped open with Ryan’s kick, opening to a picture of Marissa and him, though Ryan didn’t see it, and the photo album was left open to that very picture. Ryan was fuming, and he wasn’t sure why. He punched and kicked the punching bag again, sending it almost flying in the air. He burst out of the poolhouse, abandoning his unpacking, and deciding to go right to the drive. He got into Sandy’s car, since he didn’t have a car anymore. Thinking about that only made him angrier. He slammed down on the horn, causing inconveniently loud noise for the neighbors, but he didn’t care. He stopped beeping after a while, put the keys into the ignition, and drove off.
“Why I didn’t beat up Volchuck?? Why didn’t I beat him up??” Ryan murmured in frustration, as he peeled down the road, speeding, way over the limit, but he didn’t care. Regret poured over him. He turned on the radio.
“At seven pm today an accident was reported on the parkway. Apparently, two cars collided sending one of the vehicles off the road…”
Ryan’s eyes bulged out, and he quickly changed the station. The merry voices of ‘The Youth Group’ poured through the car as they sang ‘Forever Young’ on the radio. Ryan shook, and quickly changed the station again. A commercial for a new Jeep was on. Not believing his luck, Ryan switched the station again, where some Elton John music played. Ryan decided to turn off the radio all together to prevent hearing another heated reminder of reality in just some simple ways, once ‘Pinball Wizard’ was done. After he turned off the radio station, he turned around the car, heading back home. He knew he couldn’t stay there, and he needed to make it known once and for all. He got to the house, stopped the car in the driveway, and walked into the Cohen’s actual house, other then the poolhouse. He went into the kitchen where Sandy was reading the newspaper and having a cup of coffee.
“I can’t stay here anymore,” Ryan said flatly. Sandy looked up from the newspaper and looked at Ryan like he wanted to say something. Ryan just looked at him sorrowfully, and turned around, headed back to the pool house. Where he was going, he wasn’t sure. But he couldn’t stay here anymore. He couldn’t cope being in Newport anymore. He would sleep here for a few nights; try to decide what to do. But he didn’t think anything could stop him. Not this time.
~As Ryan walks away, the song ‘Chasing Cars’ by SnowPatrol begins to play. I’d strongly suggest playing it as you read, because it helps to really feel the emotions if you don’t already, and it adds more emphasis, plus it shows what I’m picturing as I write this with this song playing.~
We'll do it all
Everything
On our own
We don't need
Anything
Or anyone
*Song stops.*
“I can’t take it,” Jeff stated, after hearing Julie’s offer.
Julie’s face fell. “Excuse me, did you just basically tell me that you’re a sixteen year old boy that does not want five hundred and fifty thousand dollars??”
Jeff smiled triumphantly. “Uh, yeah, I did. I’m sorry Mrs. Cooper. Not only would that be unfair to Kaitlin if I accepted money from you, let alone stop dating-excuse me, seeing her- because I want a high amount of high- I warn you, I’m not that kind of a guy- but also because I love Kaitlin. I don’t know who you think I am, or why you don’t want me dating your daughter, but the reality of all of it is, I am. And I’m not accepting the money.”
Julie gaped at Jeff, the boy’s words harsh and insulting to her, making her want to do something horrible to him, strangle him or worse. But they made her realize that doing this, or generally just taking Kaitlin away from Jeff in another way, would not improve her relationship with her, it would almost definitely make it worse. Kaitlin found Jeff of all the unfortunate for Julie, and now she was attached to him. There was nothing she could do about it.
Julie was surprised at herself, usually she was strong, defensive, and stubborn until was her own way. But not this time…this time she felt weak, tired, and unwilling to fight. Her mouth firmly in a tight line, she said: “You could tell Kaitlin that I’ve gone back to Newport.” She watched Jeff, expecting a smile to creep over the guy’s face, but it didn’t. To himself, he kept it subtly hidden.
“Will do,” Jeff told her, with a calm nod.
*Song starts up again.*
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel
Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough
This part plays as the scene shows Ryan looking out the window of the poolhouse, gazing sadly. It then flips to Sandy in the house also looking upset, and lonely, as he flips through pictures of the whole family- Kirsten, him, Ryan, and Seth- doing things together happily. He looked at the Chrismukkuh card, a picture of the whole family Kirsten came home from rehab, and one of Seth acting silly as Ryan looked away from the photo laughing at Ryan, Kirsten with her head down in the mist of laughter, and Sandy smiling as he tries to get the rest of his family in the photo to pay attention to the picture. He laughed a little; and even added a little smile; but the laughing ceased, and the smile faded as he remembered everything with Ryan again.
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Sandy flipped the page with the silly picture over, and landed on one with Sandy and Ryan in golf gear, holding clubs outside. They were smiling and looked thrilled. Sandy looked upset.
Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
Summer stepped off the stage, after another miserable day of work. She had been feeling guilt and regret all day for what she had done to Seth, wishing there was a way she could take it back. If only Harvey wasn’t the way he was. She spilled the water over her face, the water shining her cheeks. She went back over to get her bag, ready to change and get home ; tired from her long day. She saw Harvey by some other dancers; who were just arriving to start their part, which was a night shift, trying to hide the glare he was so evidently giving her. She sighed, more annoyed now then scared; and left the room.
Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads
I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
*Song stops.*
Seth sat in the waiting room of the hospital, tired, exhausted, and hyped up from his adventure. He couldn't help feeling proud of himself...he had helped Alexandra, and even though he felt guilty about Summer, it wasn't like he was planning on this happening. There he was, in the hospital at twelve o’ clock at night, wearing his pajamas, and his navy Spaceman sandals, which were the only shoes he could find in his rush to get to the hospital. He wore them with socks nonetheless; red and blue striped socks, to complete the ensemble. Kirsten had called, wondering of Alexandra’s whereabouts, and Seth had answered the phone and told his mother what was going on, but later declined her help. He didn’t know why. Everything about this evening, all the events, all of his thoughts…they all surprised him. He jumped at the sound of his Death Cab For Cutie ring tone, as he was dozing off, almost in a full sleep. Shaking himself fully awake, he picked up the phone, half hoping it was Summer, wanting to talk to her but feeling guilty about everything with Alexandra. He breathed a surprising sigh of relief, when he saw that it was Kirsten. He picked up.
“Hi Mom,” Seth answered groggily.
“Hey honey, it’s getting late, I think you should start heading home. I’m coming over there to keep Alexandra company. I’m really sorry I was running late, and wasn’t there to help you.” Kirsten said, as she drove along the parkway in the Range Rover.
“No problem. Nobody was expecting a three-week early baby,” Seth said reasonably.
“How is she?? How’s the baby??” Kirsten asked.
“Alexandra, and her baby, who the one and only Seth Cohen helped deliver, are both fine. I’m exhausted but I’m feeling pretty good about myself right now, Mom,” Seth informed her, with a small forced smile on his face.
Kirsten smiled. “I’m really proud of you, sweetie. I’ll be right there. I love you.” Kirsten hung up the phone, and concentrated on the road.
Seth hung up too, and sat up with an effort, barely function through a heavy sleepiness. He sauntered into Alexandra’s room, where she sat in the hospital bed, holding her baby boy and rocking him slowly. She smiled at Seth’s enter. Seth smiled back.
“How are you?? How is he??” Seth asked in almost a whisper, cautious of his environment of a hospital’s maternity ward. He squinted with fatigue, and went over to a nearby chair almost near the bed, and plopped down in it.
“I really can’t thank you enough for everything you did to me. If I weren’t for you, I would of- well I wouldn’t of had a way to get to the hospital that’s for sure. I would have gone through the whole labor without guidance.” Alexandra was giving Seth a look of such high admiration; he began to expect the obvious.
“It was really no problem,” Seth said modestly, especially for him.
“Hold him,” Alexandra stated flatly, holding out her son carefully to Seth.
Seth put his hand up. “No, really, I shouldn’t.”
“No, really, you deserve it. I need to get up and get something anyway,” Alexandra persisted.
“Well…okay,” Seth said uneasily. And before he knew it, he was holding a baby in his arms. He stared at him, with his soft skin and very small amount of reddish hair. Alexandra got up, got something, and walked over to Seth. She held out a check to him.
“Fifty dollars,” Alexandra stated, smiling at Seth.
Seth looked up at her. “No, really, I couldn’t.”
“No, you deserve it,” Alexandra demanded. “Keep it.” She stuck it in a confused Seth’s palm.

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life
Kaitlin walked outside of the club, where Jeff was sitting overlooking the sights, the wide variety of people, the various happenings all around. Kaitlin smiled, and came by his side, glad with the news that Julie had left. She sat, and he noticed her, smiled and put his arm around her, she snuggled up into his warm body and the couple sat together, watching everything, possibly the happiest either one had been in a long time.
All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see
I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Ryan sat by Marissa's grave, watching the engraved letters on the tombstone. He sat there so grim and solemn, no longer wanting to look or stay anymore, but couldn’t bring himself to get up. He would just sit there, gathering his thoughts, until he could get up.
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
