As we zoom in on the Cohen's living room, Seth is agonizing over whether or not Summer and Zach did the naked dance in San Diego. He decides to ask Zach, who is none too pleased about the invasion of privacy. Meanwhile, Caleb wishes to adopt Lindsay. Julie is concerned that this will affect her future inheritance and Renee is concerned because - uh-oh! - Caleb might not be the father. There was never a DNA test.
In more illegal and immoral affairs, we turn to Rebecca and Sandy. Two FBI agents question Kirsten, who does not reveal Rebecca's whereabouts. She does, however, visit her husband's former flame and ask if she is aware of the danger in which she is placing Sandy. In response to this speech, Rebecca leaves town. Sandy is mad at Kirsten. Kirsten remains beautiful, yet upset that Sandy does not trust her.
In emaciated, experimental news, Marissa freaks out about her and Alex. She initially ditches Alex and her friends and is afraid to tell Summer about her new relationship. Later in the show, however, she opens up to Summer, goes back over to Alex's and we can only assume she opened up to Alex in a different way later that night.
In response to Seth's depression, Summer admits that she did not sleep with Zach. He wanted to wait until marriage, but he tells Seth that he has changed his mind; he now wishes to bask in Summer's rays (and other things) next week in Tuscany. Summer, though, is a little hesitant because she is not really over Seth still.
At the adoption party, Caleb has second thoughts about the adoption. He tells Linday that they should postpone it in order to take a paternity test. Lindsay leaves crying. Julie proceeds to save the party like only she can: by telling the guests that the surprise of the party is the launch of Newport Living. One might say that she adopted a different approach to the festivities once the mood turned sour.
