Before the music serenades us, we see the arrest of Caleb is on the newspaper's front page. Seth, however, is focused on his issues with Summer. Ryan convinces him that he is often selfish and Seth agrees to change. Along those lines, Seth takes a job at a local club, The Bait Shop, in order to get tickets to a concert for Zack and Summer.
Back at chez Cohen, Sandy and Caleb are discussing the future of the company. Sandy urges the man under arrest to step down and appoint a new CEO. At school, Ryan accidentally elbows and spills coffee on a new girl, Lindsay. By an amazing coincidenc, Ryan and Lindsay end up as lab partners. Tension mounts.
Sandy winds up losing his hob because he is representing Caleb. The elder Nichol then names Julie as the head of the Newport Group, angering Sandy and Kirsten. In order to calm Kirsten down, he names her Chief Financial Office and says she is essentially in charge of the business. At the concert, Summer and Seth are getting along well. He tries to kiss her, but she runs away and says that if they cannot be friends, it "may be it for us."
Marissa and Ryan got along well at the concert. Therefore, she tries to find him at school, but he is getting along very well now with Lindsay. Seth runs into the same problem when he tries to apologize to Summer at their summer club. He sees her, Zack and Summer's father having a great time at lunch. The episode ends with Marissa and Seth, both lonely, on a bench together.
