Before the opening credits, the gang is trying to find Marissa. Julie enters the beach house and threatens to call the police or the doctors if her daughter cannot be found soon. Back inside the house, Sandy is freaking out over the visit from his mother. He is busy removing all the bread in honor of Passover. When "the nana" arrives, however, she is very friendly and non-judgmental.
Meanwhile, Ryan figured out where Marissa is hiding out and heads over the Theresa's. It happens to be Theresa and Eddie's engagement party and Eddie wants Ryan to leave. Marissa says that she is not going home. Back in Newport, Summer shows up at the Cohens, well versed in Judiasm and ready to impress the nana. Hailey stops by Jimmy's apartment and kisses him, but he turns her down.
Unfortunately, Seth overhears the nana telling Sandy about her lung cancer and refusal to get treatment. After talking with Seth and Kirsten, however, the nana decides to return to New York the next morning and begin chemotherapy. Over in Chino, Eddie and Ryan bond and Luke actually shows up to rescue Marissa. She responds with a slap to his face.
Finally, it's cedar time. Ryan brings Marissa to the meal and Jimmy shows up, deciding to give a relationship with Hailey a try, but to keep it secret for a bit. The episode ends with the entire family, Summer and Marissa hapilly celebrating Passover together.
