As a thank you for helping him avoid jail, Oliver invites Ryan, along with the rest of the crew to his parents' mansion in Palm Springs. Once there, tension soars between Ryan and Oliver, as the former hogs Marissa's attention, mocks Ryans sub-par golf game, and runs him off the course during a golf cart race. Later that night, Ryan tells Oliver to stay away from Marissa and Oliver responds by yelling, breaking a plate and leaving the house. He calls Marissa two hours later, claiming that he has taken a bunch of pills and asking her to come back to Newport and help him. Viewers, however, see that Oliver has simply hidden the pills in a clock on the table. When Ryan and Marissa arrive at Oliver's apartment, Oliver says that he has thrown up all the pills and refuses to be taken to the ER. The episode ends with a sympathetic Marissa spending the night at the apartment and Ryan, after making the argument that Oliver may have faked the suicide attempt, leaving in angst.
