The gang drops Marissa off at Newport Union, a public school that looks as though it could be home to gangs of a different sort. Ryan, now home-schooled, watches as his lady friend enters this diverse crowd, hesitant look on her face, beady eyes watching her every hallway move. Meanwhile, back at the pristine, private institution of Harbor, Summer is stressing over her duties as social chair, while Seth is at the mercy of the evil, no good, very bad dean.
In the adult world, Julie is served eviction papers from Caleb's house and ends the episode in a hotel room full of tears. For Kirsten and Sandy, the morning begins with far less clothing on, as any old problems are officially washed away. In the shower. Together. Ohhh yeah! Coming to Marissa's assistance at school is Casey, who helps our favorite gun slinger befriend her boyfriend, Johnny, and "Chilly," a rather familar type of fellow who rides around on a skateboard and throws out witty one-liners. They help her ignore the fact that everyone knows about the shooting incident. Ryan sees this new foursome together and fears that he's losing his love. Speaking of losing long-time possessions, Kirsten decides to sell The Newport Group and cut ties to the past.
In other news, Summer falls prey to the tenacious Taylor and her traitorous tale of suspension for Seth unless Summer comes clean about stealing the tiki hut last week. Falling for this false piece of information, Summer admits to the treachery and is forced to fork over the position of social chair to ... Taylor. Marissa's social life is going a lot smoother, as she heads to a dance at her new school with her three new friends. This creates further tension between her and Ryan, who resists every temptation to follow her into the festivities and pursue a Chino-like beat down of anyone in his way.
Kirsten meets Charlotte for lunch. The conniving former star of the FOX hit, Boston Public, tries to convince Kirsten to invest in a private home for alcoholics, but our healthy heroine turns down the offer. Back at the kind of sleazy hotel that would make Lance (star of Killer Instinct!) proud, Charlotte's true intentions are revealed: she paid $30,000 to get into rehabilitation and is now trying to manipulate Kirsten out of lots of money. I think I speak for all OC Filers when I say: Go back to Boston, Charlotte!
The hour ends in dramatic fashion for Summer. In a shocking turn of events that was not at all blatantly hinted at last week, she spies the devious dean and tattling Taylor in a lip lock. After watching this advance to first base, Summer seems torn about what to do about the information. Fortunately for Ryan, Marissa is not at all hesitant about her feelings for her man. She shows up at the pool house and this delicious duo slow dance into the night to their new song.
