As we pan in on the Cohen household, the family is grieving over Caleb's death. During this mourning period, Seth finds a rehabilitation brochure in his father's desk drawer. Ryan suspects that it is intended for Kirsten, aka Drunky McDrunk. Meanwhile, Jimmy and Hailey both show up for the funeral. The event lacks luster and excitement, but Sandy delivers a nice eulogy as his wife his the sauce big time.
Instead of taking time to appreciate Caleb's life, Trey is planning a drug deal with Jess. It involves a gun and, call me paranoid, but it doesn't appear as though it'll end well. As this plan is being hatched, Kirsten is chugging straight from the vokda bottle and causing a scene. Fortunately, the kids have left the house by this time and head - naturally - for The Bait Shop. As luck would have it, this is also wear the drug deal goes down. When the bad guys refuse to pay, Jess fires shots, the club panics and Marissa cuts her head on broken glass. This was one full day!
In response to the antics at the funeral, a couple of surprising events occur: Jimmy takes Julie out on a date. They get along well. They decide to try again as a couple. The day after burying Julie's husband. Marissa, however, welcomes the news while Caitlin is hopefully alive and breathing somewhere. Also, Sandy plans an intervention for Kirsten. After 90 intense seconds, she relents and ends the season in a rehab clinic.
The final few minutes of the episode are suspenseful. Summer, who had finally gotten the truth out of her best friend, reveals the Trey attack on Marissa to Seth. He thinks about someone other than himself for two seconds and passes the news on to Ryan. Good luck, Trey! Ryan barges in on his brother and a round of fisticuffs ensues. As Trey is choking the youngest Atwood, Marissa runs in, finds the gun on the floor and fires once at Trey. Blood flows from the wound. He keels over. Seth and Summer arrive, Ryan crawls away and we're left to wonder what will possibly occur from this cliff hanger.
