Seth begins the episode by being confused over Alex and jealous of the other couples on the show. When he goes to talk to Alex, she makes it clear that she is through with him and Jody. Meanwhile, to help his buddy out, Zach encourages Seth to start his own comic.
With Julie in Europe, Marissa has been hanging out with Alex every day. Together, they drive to L.A. to take back the heart necklace that Jody stole from Alex. In the process, Marissa also steals Jody's necklace and Alex places this on the neck of Marissa. Later in the hour, Caleb walks in on Alex checking out Marissa's new tattoo.
In the adult world, Sandy is visited by his law school professor, Max. Max is dying and wants to see his daughter, Rebecca, one last time. This is Sandy's ex-fiance from college who vanished to Canada 22 years ago after being accused of setting fire to a nuclear plant. Kirsten accuses Sandy of still being in love with Rebecca. Our favorite lawyer, however, is distraught over the fact that he has been told of Rebecca's death. When the episode ends, though, Rebecca walks into Sandy's new beach front office.
Summer, meanwhile, finds the sketch book of drawings that Seth made of her over the, well, summer. She seems touched. Also, Caleb finally calls Lindsay for dinner after Ryan asks him to. At the meal, though, Caleb is angered over the fact that Ryan continues to stick his nose in the family business and he thinks that Ryan and Lindsay just want the old man's money.
